Samsung’s June 2025 Security Update Addresses Over 60 Vulnerabilities

Samsung has detailed its June 2025 Security Maintenance Release (SMR) for Galaxy devices. This SMR package includes security patches not only from Samsung but also from Google and other partners. The goal is to provide Galaxy device users with the latest protection against newly discovered vulnerabilities. The Korean firm will soon start rolling out these fixes to eligible users globally.

Samsung outlines its June 2025 security update for Galaxy devices

The June 2025 SMR contains 36 high-severity Android OS vulnerability patches, with no critical Android issues found. Samsung also addressed 10 high-severity issues in its Semiconductor unit that affected select Exynos-powered Galaxy devices.

In addition to the Android security bulletin and Samsung semiconductor patches, the June security patch fixes 19 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items. The company has explained some of its patches to improve users’ confidence in the security of Samsung devices. Note that Samsung will address these security flaws for its Galaxy devices only, and they do not affect other Android devices.

Samsung has addressed a flaw in the ThemeManager, which allows local privileged attackers to reuse trial items. It also fixes an issue in AudioService, allowing attackers to access sensitive information. Other security issues have also been addressed in several areas, such as Bluetooth, fingerprint trustlet, and camera.

The release note mentions that the company has identified a few flaws in Galaxy Watches as well. It fixed a default Samsung Cloud permission and ScreenCapture bug for the Galaxy Watch. The former allows hackers to access data in Samsung Cloud, while the latter allows local attackers to take screenshots.

As for when Samsung will roll out the June 2025 security update, there is no specific date, but you can expect it in the coming days. Samsung may first push the update to flagship models such as the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6.
