Samsung Internet Moves New Tab Button for Better Reachability

Samsung is nearing the public launch of its Internet Browser app for Windows computers. Meanwhile, it continues to improve the mobile version with subtle yet meaningful UI changes. A fresh update makes the app noticeably easier to use, especially with one hand.
New Samsung Internet update improves one-handed usability
Samsung Internet is getting a major design overhaul in One UI 8.5, which is currently in the beta phase. The latest update for beta testers brings version 29.0.2.76 of the browser app. It moves the New Tab button from the top-right corner of the screen to the bottom-right.
While this may sound minor, it significantly improves reachability. With large-screen phones becoming the norm, accessing controls at the top of the display can be awkward when using a device one-handed. Placing the New Tab icon near the bottom makes opening new tabs faster and more comfortable during everyday browsing.
Aside from the repositioned New Tab button, there don’t appear to be any obvious visual or functional changes in this build. However, it builds upon the new design philosophy seen across Samsung apps in One UI 8.5. More colorful, pill-shaped UI elements are a signature change in this update.
At the moment, this Samsung Internet update is only available to devices running the One UI 8.5 beta, i.e., the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. However, the new version does appear to work on older One UI versions. We still do not recommend sideloading the APK unless you really need easier one-handed usage right now. Otherwise, it’s best to wait for the official release in a few months.
One UI 8.5 will debut with the Galaxy S26 series and gradually roll out to other devices. Samsung is expected to complete the rollout by the end of June this year. Stay tuned for more updates.
