Samsung Hints at Early One UI 8 Beta for Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5

Samsung may have a surprise in store for Galaxy Z Fold 5 owners, and possibly the Flip 5 as well. While the company has officially confirmed that the first wave of the One UI 8 beta will land on the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, and Galaxy S24 series starting August 11, signs point to the 2023 foldables possibly joining the party sooner than anticipated.

Samsung starts preparations for One UI 8 beta release for the Galaxy Z Fold 5

In the UK, Samsung has already set up a dedicated One UI 8 Beta section for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 on its official community forum. These community pages typically go live shortly before the beta program opens for that model in the region, hinting that preparations for the Fold 5’s beta rollout are already underway. If history is any indication, the Flip 5 could accompany the 2023 Fold.

Samsung has previously confirmed that the Fold 5, Flip 5, Galaxy S23 series, and several other models will be eligible for the One UI 8 beta. However, so far, only the Fold 6, Flip 6, and S24 lineup have a fixed release timeline. Leaks suggest that the Galaxy S23 could get its turn in September, which left many assuming that the 2023 foldables would follow around the same timeframe.

However, this new development raises the possibility that the Fold 5’s beta release could arrive earlier. Maybe a week after the upcoming Wave 2 of One UI 8 beta — in Wave 1, Samsung only covered the Galaxy S25 series. Alternatively, Samsung could be planning a staggered regional launch, where some markets see the update weeks ahead of others.
