Is your Galaxy phone not displaying the latest notifications on NotiStar? You are not alone. Some Galaxy users reported that after a recent update, NotiStar fails to restart if they turn off the feature and then turn it on, resulting in missed notifications. Samsung has now officially confirmed the issue and is working on a fix, though it has not shared the patch release timeline.

Galaxy users face missed notifications due to the NotiStar bug

Part of Samsung’s Good Lock customization suite, NotiStar lets you keep a complete history of notifications. You can view, search, and manage notifications even after they have been dismissed from the regular notification panel. For many users, this feature is super helpful for tracking important messages. However, there’s a bug that prevents NotiStar from restarting its background service properly.

An affected Galaxy S23 user took to the Samsung community forum, saying, “I updated it a few days ago, so when I turn it off and on, it doesn’t automatically restart, and I don’t get any notifications.” So, the bug triggers when the user toggles off NotiStar and then enables it again.

Thankfully, Samsung’s Good Lock support team has acknowledged the issue. “We are currently working on identifying the cause of the issue where NotiStar does not auto-run and are preparing an update that includes the fix,” said a moderator on the community forum. They also asked affected users to send system logs immediately after reproducing the issue. This could help engineers better understand bugs and quickly prepare fixes.

While Samsung has confirmed that a fix is on the way, it’s unclear when the company will push the update containing it. Hopefully, it does not take long. Meanwhile, some Galaxy users also complained about NotiStar’s application list, which shows hidden system apps alongside regularly installed apps. The Korean firm has promised to fix this issue in the next OS upgrade.
