Samsung Confirms Bigger Screens, Better Cameras for Galaxy Z Fold 7

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature bigger screens and better cameras, Samsung has confirmed. The company recently dropped an official teaser for the upcoming foldable, hinting at notable upgrades in terms of design and functionality. It aims to deliver an Ultra experience with the new Fold.

Rumors swirling ahead of the upcoming Unpacked event — expected in the second week of July — hint at a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8.2-inch foldable main screen for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. That’s a welcome jump from previous models, with the device also switching to a wider design for enhanced usability of the cover screen.

While Samsung hasn’t revealed the numbers outright, its official teaser confirms the screen upgrade. The company also shared a GIF showcasing the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s wider build. Additionally, it hinted at major camera upgrades. While the Korean firm didn’t share specifics about the screens and cameras, leaks point to a 200MP primary shooter for the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

“For years, Samsung has listened to users asking for bigger screens, better cameras and new ways to connect and create. The demand is clear — an Ultra-experience that goes beyond a simple list of upgraded features in a smaller and more portable form factor,” Samsung said. “That’s why Galaxy’s next chapter is to provide an experience that seamlessly blends artistry and engineering to elevate everyday interactions.”

Beyond size, the design is slimming down too. Reports suggest the Fold 7 could measure just 4.5mm when unfolded (3.9mm excluding the numbers around the inner display), a full millimeter thinner than the Fold 6 (5.6mm). Folded, it could measure just 9mm thick, making it sleeker and more portable than ever before (Fold 6 is 12.1mm thick).

What is this Ultra foldable?

Interestingly, Samsung’s first official teaser for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 mentions “Ultra” a few times. This has sparked rumors of an Ultra-branded foldable, possibly the same device being renamed as the Fold 7 Ultra. However, it may also be a reference to how the new foldable matches the Ultra flagships in specs and user experience. Expect more details to emerge in the coming weeks.
