Samsung Completes FlaktGroup Acquisition, Expands Global HVAC Reach

Earlier this year, Samsung confirmed the acquisition of FlaktGroup, a leading global HVAC solutions provider from Europe. The company recently completed the acquisition, paving the way for an expansion of its presence in the growing HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) market. It acquired all shares of FlaktGroup for €1.5 billion from European investment firm Triton.

Samsung acquires FlaktGroup to strengthen global HVAC business

With this acquisition, Samsung gains access to FlaktGroup’s production and sales units, helping it expand R&D while strengthening its supply chain. In addition, FlaktGroup’s subsidiaries, such as Woods Air Movement, SEMCO, and SE-Elektronic, are now part of Samsung Electronics. These subsidiaries bring expertise in ventilation and fire safety systems, air handling and flow solutions, and advanced automation systems.

Samsung will keep FlaktGroup’s name, management team, employees, and facilities, operating it as an independent subsidiary. The company’s DX Division will see it as a new growth engine and aim to nurture the HVAC business. It plans to integrate FlaktGroup’s advanced HVAC control systems with its own management platforms, such as SmartThings Pro and b.IoT.

Furthermore, Samsung plans to establish a strong supply chain for large-scale air conditioning systems in Korea, North America, and Europe. Last year, it formed a joint venture with Lennox to expand its business in the North American market. Now, FlaktGroup’s expertise will help in providing better HVAC solutions in these key markets.

“This marks a strategic move for Samsung, aimed at leading the global HVAC and data center markets,” said TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “By merging FlaktGroup’s technological expertise with Samsung’s AI platforms, we aim to set a new benchmark in the industry, delivering innovative solutions to customers.”

Samsung also plans to continue investing in R&D, commercial HVAC solutions, and high-growth sectors like AI data centers. It has recently opened a new HVAC test lab in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan, with the goal of testing next-gen heating technologies in freezing environments.
