After flagship models, Samsung has started beta testing One UI 8 on mid-range devices. The Beta program is now live for the Galaxy A55 in India, with more devices expected to follow later this week. The company has already confirmed beta updates for the Galaxy A54, A36, and A35.

Galaxy A55 joins Samsung’s One UI 8 Beta program

Last month, Samsung announced a massive expansion of its One UI 8 Beta program, bringing the Android 16-based update to more users. Earlier, the update was available in beta only for the Galaxy S25 series, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE shipped with the stable version. The expansion began with beta rollouts for the Galaxy S24, Fold 6, and Flip 6. Samsung recently launched One UI 8 Beta for the Galaxy S23 series as well.

Now, it has shifted focus to the mid-range segment, with the Galaxy A55 leading the charge for the affordable models. Users in India are getting the beta update with the build version ZYH6. The OTA (over the air) package weighs nearly 1.9GB and bundles the September security patch. More importantly, it introduces a host of new features and enhancements to the devices.

Samsung’s One UI 8, based on Android 16, brings a refined design, smoother performance, and expanded Galaxy AI features that make multitasking and personalization more seamless. Along with visual polish, the update focuses on efficiency, security, and longer battery life, ensuring a balanced mix of style and stability for everyday use. While the Galaxy A55 may miss out on AI upgrades, there’s still plenty in the store for users.

To enroll your Galaxy A55 in One UI 8 Beta, go to the Samsung Members app and enter the Beta Program banner. Now, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration. The beta update will hit your unit after a while (go to Settings > Software update > Download and install). Samsung plans to release the stable version in September, starting with the Galaxy S25 series. We will keep you posted.
