Samsung is finally launching its long-awaited personal robot, Ballie, this summer. Five years after debuting at CES 2020, Ballie is now set to launch in the US and South Korea. Hot on the heels, Samsung just announced a new partnership with Google Cloud to power Ballie with Gemini’s multimodal AI. That means the little robot can understand and respond to all kinds of input — voice, visuals from its camera, and data from environmental sensors — and adjust its responses on the fly.
Samsung’s Ballie robot is coming this summer packed with Gemini AI capabilities
With Gemini built in, Ballie goes beyond basic smart home tasks like turning off lights or setting reminders. Samsung says it can even act as a fashion assistant. Ask, “How do I look?” and Ballie will scan your outfit with its camera. Then, it will suggest accessories or different clothing options to level it up.
“Through this partnership, Samsung and Google Cloud are redefining the role of AI in the home,” said Samsung’s EVP of Visual Display, Yongjae Kim. “By pairing Gemini’s powerful multimodal reasoning with Samsung’s AI capabilities in Ballie, we’re leveraging the power of open collaboration to unlock a new era of personalized AI companion — one that moves with users, anticipates their needs and interacts in more dynamic and meaningful ways than ever before.”
