PSA: Samsung Wallet Update Support Ends This Month for These Devices

If you’re still using an older Galaxy device, your Samsung Wallet might be at risk. Samsung has confirmed it’s ending update support for the Wallet app on phones running One UI 2. That version of the software came out back in 2019, so this won’t affect most users. But if you’re still holding on to one of those devices, it might be time to consider an upgrade.

Samsung Wallet won’t receive updates running on One UI 2 (Android 10)

In a recent notice in the Wallet app, Samsung informed users that it will no longer provide updates on devices running Android 10-based One UI 2. That isn’t exactly surprising since One UI 2 has been around since 2019, but if you’re still using a device with that version, it’s something you should know. There will be no more security patches, performance improvements, or new features, all of which are important for an app that handles sensitive financial data.

You’ll still be able to use Samsung Wallet on those older devices, but starting June 23, 2025, there won’t be any new updates. It’s a limited change that affects only a small number of users. Still, once support ends, you could start seeing crashes, failed transactions, and increased security risks.

If you’re on Android 11-based One UI 3 or newer, Samsung Wallet will remain fully supported. If you’re not sure which version you’re running, you can check by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install. If your phone hasn’t received Android 11 by now, it probably won’t.

In related news, Samsung also announced that Samsung Pay will stop working on Tizen-powered Galaxy Watches starting May 31, 2025. There is a small exception, however. If you don’t uninstall or reset the watch, Samsung Pay will continue to work normally.
