Pebble is back, and that is the news. Now we are getting our first official look at the new Pebble Time 2, which is set to ship later this year. These designs are quite different from the early look we saw back in March. But don’t worry, those were just preliminary concepts. Eric Migicovsky shared the final design on his blog and in a video, giving fans their first real glimpse of what’s coming.

Here’s our first official look at much-awaited Pebble Time 2

After reclaiming the Pebble name, the company dropped the old Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 branding. Now it is official: the new watches are called the Pebble 2 Duo and Pebble Time 2. Migicovsky described the Time 2 as “basically the watch of my dreams,” and looking at it, it is easy to see why. It keeps Pebble’s simple, clean style while appearing sleeker and more refined.

The Pebble Time 2 will feature a stainless steel front, back, and buttons, similar to the Pebble Time Steel. The watch comes with a 1.5-inch, 64-color e-paper touchscreen and a flat, hardened glass lens designed to reduce glare. Pebble plans to release the watch in four colors, chosen with input from fans.

New features include a second microphone, which may improve noise cancellation, a compass, and a multicolor RGB backlight. The back cover is screw-mounted for easy access, and the watch uses standard 22mm quick-release straps. The case weighs 32.5 grams, or 48 grams with the strap.

The Pebble Time 2 retains the features Pebble fans love. It includes a heart rate monitor, step and sleep tracking, a speaker, vibration feedback, and a battery that can last up to 30 days. It connects to smartphones via Bluetooth to display notifications, control music, and access the internet. The watch’s waterproof rating has not yet been confirmed.

Preorders for the Pebble Time 2 are $225. Customers who preordered the older Core 2 Duo can upgrade to the new watch without canceling their order. To do so, Pebble says it will provide a survey link to manage this process.
