Over 1 Million Pre-Orders: Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 Break Records Again

Samsung’s latest foldables — the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 — are off to a phenomenal start. After setting new pre-order records in India, the duo has now achieved another major milestone. Combined pre-orders for the new foldables have crossed 1.04 million units in South Korea, breaking last year’s record of 1.02 million for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5.

The Korean media recently reported that the Fold model has outsold its Flip counterpart for the first time ever this year. Despite being the costlier model, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 accounted for 60% of all pre-orders of the new foldables. This is a major turnaround, considering the Flip series has traditionally been the more popular choice due to its compact design and lower cost.

We now have the full numbers for pre-order until Monday, July 21. Samsung has reportedly received 1.04 million pre-orders for the duo, over 600,000 of which are for the Fold 7. The pre-order window runs until July 28 in South Korea, with retail availability set for July 29. Expect the company to add plenty more pre-orders over the next few days. Note that the 2024 models recorded only 910,000 pre-orders.

This record-breaking demand for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 doesn’t come as a surprise, though. These are Samsung’s most refined foldables yet, offering a slimmer design while packing more powerful specs. Not just the aesthetics, the company has seriously upgraded the durability, functionality, and overall appeal of the new foldables.

This also shows that foldables are no longer a niche product — people are willing to pay a premium for innovation, durability, and long-term support. With the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, Samsung seems to have struck the right balance between form, function, and future-readiness.
