Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and a possible Wide Fold later this year. All three foldables are likely to debut with One UI 9 out of the box. The devices appeared on the GSMA IMEI database earlier this year, confirming development. Now, Samsung has begun internal testing, as all three models have surfaced on the company’s test servers.

Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, and rumored Wide Fold spotted in early One UI 9 testing

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has appeared on Samsung’s US test server with the model number “SM-F976U,” which represents the US carrier-locked variant, running One UI 9. The firmware spotted for the device carries the build number F976USQU0AZB1. Testing currently appears limited to the US, as other regions and unlocked variants have not surfaced yet.

According to Tarun Vats, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 has also shown up on Samsung’s servers as well. It carries the model number “SM-F776U,” again indicating the US locked version. The first test build spotted for the device is F776USQU0AZB1.

Interestingly, a mysterious device with the model number “SM-F971U” has also appeared on the test server, equipping the build number F971USQU0AZB1. It remains unclear which model this refers to. It could be linked to a new device, possibly the rumored passport-sized foldable, the Galaxy Wide Fold. However, there’s no confirmation at this stage.

Since One UI 9 testing has already started, Samsung appears to be preparing both its next-generation foldables and its upcoming major software update. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 could debut at a Galaxy Unpacked event around July or August. They should ship with One UI 9 based on Android 17 out of the box. The One UI 9 rollout for other models should begin later on.

For now, Samsung’s immediate focus remains on the Galaxy S26 lineup, which is set to launch on February 25. We do not have much information about the foldables right now. More details should surface in the coming months.
