The Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes with a bunch of upgrades over the predecessor, and one of them is that bigger and full cover display. The cover screen lets users do many tasks without opening the phone, including running any app. For example, answering calls is possible, too. However, answering calls from the cover display currently has a privacy issue. One UI 8.5 may finally address it.

One UI 8.5 could bring a new call privacy option for Galaxy Z Flip 7

According to SamMobile, early One UI 8.5 builds include a new call privacy option for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 (review). On One UI 8, when you answer a call from the cover screen, the audio plays through the speaker. This happens because the phone has only one earpiece, which is placed on the inside. As a result, people around you can hear the conversation, which affects privacy.

But One UI 8.5 will introduce a new option called “Low Volume.” This option appears on the call screen when you answer calls from the cover display. When enabled, it automatically reduces the call volume to the lowest possible level. It helps users take quick calls on the go without disturbing others. With a single tap, the phone lowers the volume instantly. Tapping it again restores the original volume level.

The device also remembers this setting. So, once enabled, every call answered from the cover screen will start at low volume by default. This removes the need to manually adjust the volume every time. That said, this feature is still under internal testing. And we may have to wait a bit to try the feature.
