With every passing day, we’re learning about new features that will come with One UI 8.5 update. Even though, it isn’t expected to land before Galaxy S26 series, we already know of the features that will come. One such One UI 8.5 feature will help users protect privacy when sharing images. It’s currently exclusive to China, but One UI 8.5 may bring it globally.

One UI 8.5 will let users redact or blur personal details before sharing images

The new Privacy protection feature in One UI 8.5 automatically detects private information in images. It allows users to blur or redact specific details before sending them (via SamMobile). For instance, if you share a photo of a passport or driver’s license, the tool can hide your personal information while leaving the rest of the image visible.

Users can choose from different redaction styles, including pixelation or blurring, and compare the edited version with the original before sharing. The feature is accessed through the More section of the image-sharing menu, where it scans images and highlights sensitive data for redaction.

The report notes that Samsung is relying on on-device artificial intelligence, possibly its Gemini Nano system, to perform the analysis. The AI scans photos directly on the device, keeping the process private and secure without sending data to external servers.

Leaks indicate the software may also bring 3D app icons and expanded family group functionality. Separately, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to include a Private Display feature that prevents others from seeing the screen.
