One UI 8.5 Beta 5 Now Available in US for Galaxy S25 Series

Earlier today, Samsung rolled out the fifth One UI 8.5 Beta for the Galaxy S25 series in countries such as India and South Korea. The update is now available in more beta-eligible regions, including the US. It brings just bug fixes related to Samsung’s in-house assistant, Bixby, suggesting that the company is fine-tuning its features before the final release.

Just like the other markets, One UI 8.5 Beta 5 for Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in the US carries the same firmware version ZZAN. The build weighs about 548 MB on the Ultra model. While the update does not bring new features, it updates Bixby’s version to address known bugs.

It’s quite disappointing for those hoping the beta would expand to more devices. Samsung once again limited the update to the Galaxy S25 series. Devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and S24 series remain excluded for now. Moreover, only select countries, including India, South Korea, the US, the UK, Poland, and Germany, are eligible to get an early taste of the latest software.

Anyway, One UI 8.5 will hit the stable channel with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, which debuts on February 25, 2026. After the next-gen flagship release, Samsung will begin rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update to all eligible older Galaxy devices. Meanwhile, the company has already begun testing its Android 17-based One UI 9 build in devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

To recall, based on Android 16 QPR2, One UI 8.5 introduces a host of new features, key improvements, and design tweaks across the board. For example, several system apps now feature a floating pill-shaped bottom bar for a fresh look. Photo Assist lets you edit photos continuously without saving each iteration, while Quick Share can suggest contacts by recognizing people in photos. Likewise, Storage Share lets you view files from your other Galaxy devices within the My Files app.
