Samsung’s One UI 8.5 Beta 4 brings noticeable camera improvements that go beyond simple bug fixes or minor tuning. In real-world use, both the stock Camera app and Expert RAW now show clear gains in noise reduction, clarity, and color accuracy, especially in challenging scenes, long-range zoom, and low-light conditions.

Compared to Beta 2 and Beta 3, which noticeably disrupted the image-processing pipeline, Beta 4 feels far more stable and refined. In fact, the January One UI 8 stable release has remained the peak camera experience on the Galaxy S25 series until now. Beta 4 finally pushes things forward again.

These changes aren’t about dramatic processing or artificial punch. Instead, the focus is on balance. Shadows look cleaner, noise is better controlled, and colors appear more natural and consistent across different lighting conditions. Fine details are preserved with more confidence, without the harsh sharpening or smeared textures seen in earlier beta builds.

Stock Camera offers cleaner processing and better balance

What stands out most in One UI 8.5 Beta 4 is the apparent reworking of Samsung’s image-processing pipeline. Noise reduction is more controlled, clarity improves without looking artificial, and color rendering feels closer to what the scene actually looks like, particularly in mixed or difficult lighting. It’s also worth noting that the stable One UI 8.5 release on the Galaxy S25 Ultra will likely be more refined than the beta experience we’re seeing now.

Expert RAW benefits as well. Images retain more usable detail while staying neutral, offering a stronger base file instead of a heavily “finished” look. This is especially important for users who prefer realistic results and want flexibility in post-processing rather than aggressive in-camera decisions.

A strong sign for what’s coming

These improvements are an encouraging sign for the stable One UI 8.5 release, which will officially debut alongside the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Based on Samsung’s usual rollout pattern, the update should reach the Galaxy S25 series and older devices around a month after Galaxy Unpacked — though an earlier rollout would be welcome.

That said, expectations should remain grounded. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will pair this evolving software pipeline with refined camera hardware. It will also get a new SoC, updated RAM configurations, and improved thermal management, all of which play a major role in final image quality. Because of that, results on the S26 Ultra will naturally differ from current devices running One UI 8.5 beta builds, even if they share the underlying processing philosophy.

Still, One UI 8.5 Beta 4 shows Samsung moving in the right direction. The changes aren’t flashy, and that’s a good thing. They suggest a focus on cleaner, more consistent, and more realistic image processing rather than chasing immediate visual impact. If this is the baseline Samsung is building on, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera pipeline could shape up to be one of the more meaningful updates in recent years. We can’t wait to put it to the test.
