Samsung has rolled out the October 2025 security patch for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy S22 series, and Galaxy S23 FE. These devices join a bunch of other models in this month’s security update party. The latest release addresses more than 30 vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family.
Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy S22, and S23 FE receive the October 2025 security update
This month’s security maintenance release (SMR) is now rolling out to the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra in several Asian countries, including Malaysia and Vietnam. The OTA package weighs just over 400MB for the base model, with the new firmware build version being GYJ1. Samsung should soon roll out the update in other regions.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7, meanwhile, is initially picking up the October update in South Korea. It’s a 430MB update with the firmware build version F766NKSS5AYJ3. The Fold 7 also recently received this update in Korea, so a wider global rollout shouldn’t be too far off.
As for the Galaxy S23 FE, the October 2025 update is available more widely in Asia and Europe. Its new build number is S711BXXSBFYJ1. As mentioned, this month’s security release contains over 30 patches, many of which are high-severity vulnerabilities. Samsung has already rolled out these fixes to several other Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S25 and S24 lineups.
If you are using a Galaxy phone or tablet, you can check for updates from the Settings app. Go to Software update and tap Download and install. Once downloaded, the device requires a restart to complete the installation. Newer models like the Galaxy S25 support seamless updates, so the installation process works in the background, only needing a simple reboot. However, older devices remain off throughout the process and reboot with the new build a few minutes later.
