Samsung’s Game Booster app added a host of new features with the One UI 8 update, enhancing the gaming experience for Galaxy smartphone users. The company is preparing a couple more useful tools for its in-house gaming optimization service. These tools reduce wait times and streamline gameplay, perfect for casual and hardcore mobile gamers alike.

Samsung Game Booster gets smarter with pre-download and smart sync

First spotted by GalaxyTechie on X, Samsung has added a new setting called “Pre-download game updates” to Game Booster. As you might expect, this feature allows supported games to automatically fetch additional required updates before you launch the game. Game Booster will download those pesky post-installation files when your phone is idle, charging, and connected to Wi-Fi.

Large games like Genshin Impact or Call of Duty: Mobile often download additional data files at regular intervals. These downloads delay your ability to jump into the action, as you have to sit through the updates. The new Game Booster feature could eliminate those delays entirely, letting players hop straight into gameplay.

The second new feature is even more nuanced. Game Booster now tries to synchronize the game’s startup animation with the actual loading time. Essentially, Samsung is working to match the boot-up visuals with real backend load times, so it feels like the game is ready as soon as the animation finishes. While it doesn’t reduce the actual load time, it improves perceived performance and makes the entire experience feel smoother.

As of this writing, these Game Booster features aren’t available widely. Samsung is likely testing them in limited markets or developer builds and may roll them out more broadly in the coming weeks.
