Even though the stable One UI 8.5 update may take some time to arrive with the Galaxy S26 series, a beta program could launch soon. The upcoming update is shaping up to deliver a wide range of new features and improvements for Galaxy devices, and we’re now learning about two My Files features that could debut with One UI 8.5.

My Files could help you summarize documents with the One UI 8.5 update

Android Authority (1, 2) revealed both of these features, which they found while running a newer pre-release One UI 8.5 build. One of the upcoming additions appears to be a “short summary” preview option for PDF and TXT files. When enabled, this feature would allow users to see a brief overview of a document directly from the file browser, without opening it.

This could be especially helpful when dealing with multiple files that have unclear or similar file names. The discovered code also suggests that the feature will include safeguards. My Files may refuse to summarize certain documents if it detects potentially inappropriate content, and built-in error handling is already in place in case the summarization process fails.

My Files may alert you to clear the clutter when you’re most likely to blame your phone for low storage

In addition to smarter file previews, Samsung also seems to be preparing a travel-aware storage recommendation system within the My Files app. Based on newly spotted strings, the app may soon detect when a user is traveling and proactively suggest clearing space on the device to make room for photos and videos. It would essentially serve as a timely reminder to free up storage before your vacation media starts consuming space.

Interestingly, neither of these My Files features appear in the previously leaked One UI 8.5 changelog, which means their inclusion in the final release is not yet guaranteed. There’s also no confirmation on whether the file summaries will rely on on-device processing or cloud-based analysis, or whether file size limits will apply. But if history is any indication, Samsung may likely process these on-device for better privacy.
