In August, Google started rolling out the Preferred Sources feature, but it was available only in the US and India. About four months later, today Google announced that it’s making the Preferred Sources feature widely available to all English-language users worldwide.

In that vein, you should set SammyGuru as your Preferred Source, which is how you will not miss anything. This changes nothing about your search results, except that if what you are looking for is something we have covered, our coverage will appear at the top of your search results. Suffice it to say, that helps us keep the lights on here. You can learn more about it here.

Google says nearly 90,000 sources have been chosen as preferred

Google says that the global rollout comes after the “great early feedback” the company has heard from “users and websites”. Fair enough, because as a user, it has definitely helped me keep track of reliable news from my preferred sources. What is more, Google says that “people have selected a wide range of preferred sources — nearly 90,000 unique sources”.

Additionally, Google says that, on average, people click through to their Preferred Source nearly twice as often. This matters a great deal to many independent blogs, outlets, and publications that are constantly under pressure from changing algorithms and more. In such a scenario, this feature becomes one of the last lifelines for more regular visits and readership.
