Gemini Arrives on Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, But A Few Things Are Still Unclear

Google is finally starting to roll out Gemini assistant to more devices, and Samsung’s wearables are first in line. The new Galaxy Watch 8 series will be the first smartwatches to support Gemini, replacing Google Assistant for voice commands and smart features.

Google had already said it planned to bring Gemini to Wear OS this year. Now it’s official, with the Galaxy Watch 8 series leading the charge. The update means you can expect smarter voice control and faster AI smarts right from your wrist. This is what we expect from the integration, although Google has yet to share exactly what features are coming. And if anything, special.

There’s even more news. More Samsung news, actually. Gemini is also quietly showing up on Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. X user @ya_sking12767 spotted a potted a new setting that lets you choose Gemini as the default voice assistant when the Galaxy Buds are connected to a phone running One UI 8. With that turned on, you can trigger Gemini by saying “Hey Google,” as long as your phone is unlocked.

It’s not clear yet whether this will work on phones running older versions like One UI 7, or if it’s only for One UI 8 devices. Samsung hasn’t made any official announcements about Gemini support on its earbuds so far, so we’ll likely hear more once the Buds 3 Pro get a wider release.

This is the first time Gemini has been available on wireless earbuds that aren’t made by Google. Until now, Gemini was limited to Google’s own Pixel Buds. Google has also said Gemini will come to select Sony earbuds later this year. So it’s clear the company is working to bring the AI assistant to more audio devices beyond its own lineup.
