Samsung’s long-awaited tri-folding smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, could be less than a month away. The company reportedly plans to unveil the device on December 5, with sales beginning immediately after launch. However, the bold new foldable may not be available widely anytime soon.

Samsung to launch Galaxy Z TriFold in early December

The Galaxy Z TriFold is Samsung’s most ambitious foldable yet, and its next major push to reclaim leadership in the foldable market it pioneered in 2019. A smartphone that folds twice to reveal a tablet-sized 10-inch display, the company has been working on this product for a long time. Its first real-world appearance came at the APEC 2025 Summit last month.

Now, The Chosun Daily reports that Samsung will officially announce the Galaxy Z TriFold through a public event in Korea on December 5. Sales are expected to begin shortly after the launch in Korea and China, with a few additional Asian markets possibly included in the initial rollout. However, availability will likely remain limited, as Samsung reportedly plans to produce only 20,000 to 30,000 units.

Recent developments suggest the Galaxy Z TriFold will eventually make its way into the US and other markets. But as things stand, we do not have confirmation. If a wider rollout is in the pipeline, it likely won’t happen until 2026. For now, next month’s limited launch should help the company gauge market interest and consumer response to this futuristic form factor.

Phone and tablet in one device, but at the price of two

The Galaxy Z TriFold features a unique dual inward-folding design, placing a 6.5-inch external display at the center. When fully opened, the device expands into a 10-inch widescreen panel, giving users a true hybrid between phone and tablet. Despite its complex design, it reportedly measures just 4.2 mm thick when unfolded and around 14 mm when folded.

Galaxy Z TriFold official prototype 2

Under the hood, Samsung is equipping the TriFold with a 5,600mAh battery. Camera specs may be similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, meaning a 200MP primary shooter and a dedicated telephoto lens. An industry source told the publication that the Korean firm aims to demonstrate its technological expertise with this phone. It recently launched an XR headset too.

However, this phone-cum-tablet comes at a hefty price. You get two devices in one, but you still pay for both. Initial pricing is said to hover around $3,000, much higher than Samsung’s existing foldables. It remains to be seen if the Korean firm can convince consumers that the added versatility and innovation justify the premium.
