Galaxy Z Fold 8 Rumored to Get Bigger Battery and 45W Charging

Samsung may have just unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold, but development on its 2026 foldables is already underway. At least three new models are expected next year (excluding a TriFold sequel), and two of them could adopt the Fold form factor. A new rumor on X now claims that the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a “more optimized internal architecture,” opening the door for a larger battery, faster charging, and other upgrades.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 may bring some much-needed upgrades

Measuring just 4.2mm thick when unfolded, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is an incredibly slim foldable. Even when folded, its 8.9mm profile is comparable to many slab smartphones. However, a thinner body means a relatively smaller battery, a 4,400mAh unit. Its 25W wired charging is also on the slower side, more so when you realize that some mid-range Galaxy devices support 45W charging.

Thankfully, we may see upgrades in these areas next year. Samsung has reportedly rearranged internal components to create more space inside the Galaxy Z Fold 8. According to the leak, the company aims to bump up the charging speed to 45W. Earlier reports have suggested that the Fold 8 might also break past the 4,400mAh battery size that has remained unchanged for several years.

Although this new rumor does not specify battery capacity, some insiders believe the upcoming Fold could reach 5,000mAh, bringing it in line with Samsung’s Ultra flagship phones. That kind of improvement would immediately address one of the biggest complaints Fold users have had for years. The newly launched Galaxy Z TriFold packs a 5,600mAh battery and 45W fast charging, so the Fold 8 must keep up.

As mentioned above, Samsung may launch two Fold models next year. The other could be a more affordable Fold 8 FE, or something completely different. Leaks and rumors should pick up pace in the coming months.
