There was quite a bit of confusion about which foldable held the title of the thinnest on the market until a few days ago. Honor claimed to have launched the thinnest foldable yet, but it didn’t take long for people to realize that the company’s claim wasn’t quite accurate. This means the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is actually the thinnest foldable available worldwide.

Even Samsung has no idea that Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the thinnest foldable yet

An independent study by the Korean Consumer-Centered Enterprise Association (KCEA), reported by Business Korea, found that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 measures 8.82mm when folded. Can you guess what Samsung claims for the same device? The company says it’s 8.9mm. So it turns out the phone is even slimmer than Samsung’s own claim. Some companies do the opposite (yes, I’m looking at you, Honor).

For what it’s worth, the study confirms that the Honor Magic V5 remains the second thinnest foldable on the market. So we should be clear about the facts going forward. The Magic V5 measures 9.34mm, making it a strong contender, but quite a bit thicker than the originally claimed 8.8mm.

The study also lists the top five thinnest foldables currently available. Based on that list, the ranking is: Galaxy Z Fold 7 (1st), Honor Magic V5 (2nd), Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 (3rd), Vivo X Fold 5 (4th), and Huawei Mate X6 (5th).

So now one thing is clear and worth noting: The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the thinnest foldable in the market worldwide. Pre-orders ended last night, and it is now available for sale.
