Samsung has started rolling out the December 2025 security update to the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. The rollout begins in South Korea, with a wider release expected in the coming days. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, meanwhile, are picking up the latest security fixes in more regions.
December 2025 security update reaches Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6
Earlier this week, Samsung rolled out the December 2025 SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and several other models. As usual, the rollout began in Korea, but a global release is now underway for most of them. The Galaxy S25 lineup recently received the update in more markets, and the new foldables have also followed suit.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are getting the December update in global markets with the firmware build version AYKF. The OTA file weighs 461MB for the Flip and 587MB for the Fold, though the exact size may vary by region. The update contains over 60 vulnerability patches, but no new features.
These security fixes are also rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, starting in Korea. The new firmware build version for the 2024 models is CYKE. The update size is around 400-450MB, confirming security patches with no additional features. A global rollout may begin sometime next week. Users can head to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check for the new patch.
The December 2025 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 is based on Android 16 with One UI 8. Meanwhile, Samsung is already preparing the next major upgrade. One UI 8.5 test builds have been spotted for both models, hinting that development is well underway. The update will debut with the Galaxy S26 series and may roll out to older devices in the second quarter of next year.
