Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 Join Samsung’s May 2025 Update Party

Samsung is rapidly expanding its May 2025 security update to eligible Galaxy devices worldwide. The latest security patch is now available for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3. The rollout comes alongside a wider release of this update for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, and Galaxy S24 series. While the two foldables are getting the May patch in the US, the new SMR (Security Maintenance Release) is live for the 2024 flagship lineup in Europe.
Samsung’s May update hits the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Flip 3, and more devices
Over the past few weeks, Samsung has rolled out this month’s security patch for dozens of Galaxy devices. The Fold 5, Flip 5, and Galaxy S24 series have already received this update in some regions, including the US. Recently, the company released the latest SMR for the foldable duo in the US, introducing firmware version EYE2. The Galaxy S24 lineup is getting the same update in Europe with build version BYE3.
Additionally, Samsung has begun the May 2025 update rollout for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Fold 3. The devices are currently picking up the new SMR in Korea, where it comes with build firmware versions F711NKSS9JYE2 and F926NKSS9JYE2, respectively. The update should soon hit the aging foldables in other markets, including Europe and the US.
The OTA (over the air) firmware package for the Flip model weighs just shy of 360MB and confirms the latest security fixes alongside system stability improvements. There are no new features in tow, which isn’t surprising since Samsung updated these devices to One UI 7 just a few weeks ago. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Fold 3 picked up tons of new features and enhancements with that update.
The latest release is primarily about security patches, with the May SMR addressing nearly 80 vulnerabilities. Navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check for updates on your Galaxy phone.
