Galaxy Watch 8 key specs and features

If you are a fan of Samsung’s most premium Galaxy Watch Ultra, you might feel the same vibe with the new Galaxy Watch 8. Samsung brings a similar squircle-shaped design language from the Ultra model to its standard smartwatch lineup this year. The Galaxy Watch 8 is available in two sizes: 40mm and 44mm, weighing 30g and 34g, respectively.

Speaking of its build quality, the device features sapphire crystal glass on the front, along with an aluminum frame around the circular watch face. The watch comes with IP68 and 5ATM certifications, meaning it is water and dust-resistant. On top of that, its MIL-STD-810H standard rating ensures it can withstand tough environmental conditions.

The Galaxy Watch 8 offers two screen sizes: the 44mm model sports a 1.47-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels, while the 40mm version features a 1.34-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 438 x 438 pixels.

The processor plays an important role in enabling advanced health and smart features on a smartwatch, and the Galaxy Watch 8 packs Samsung’s powerful in-house Exynos W1000 chip. This chip is built on a cutting-edge 3nm process and handles the performance demands of Samsung’s latest smartwatches. There are no changes in memory configuration as well — it still offers 32GB of storage and 2GB of RAM.

Samsung boosts battery capacity in the new smartwatch

As for batteries, the 40mm Galaxy Watch 8 packs a 325mAh battery, while its 44mm model boasts a 425mAh unit. In comparison, the Galaxy Watch 7’s 40mm and 44mm versions feature a 300mAh battery and a 435mAh battery, respectively. This improvement should translate to slightly better battery life. The Korean firm offers the same 10W wireless charging support.

In terms of software, the Galaxy Watch 8 comes pre-installed with Wear OS 6 based on One UI 8 Watch. This new operating system enables several advanced health features on the device. For example, Running Coach offers personalized training strategies, while Bedtime Guidance helps you optimize your sleep quality.

The Galaxy Watch 8 is available in both Bluetooth and LTE variants. As for pricing, it starts at $349, which is $50 higher than the predecessor. If you are interested, you can pre-order the device right away to take advantage of early exclusive perks.
