Galaxy Watch 8 and Classic Unveiled with New Design, Key Upgrades

Samsung has officially unveiled its latest generation of smartwatches β the Galaxy Watch 8 and the much-anticipated Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. Both models bring new hardware, smarter health tools, and familiar design tweaks inspired by last year’s Galaxy Watch Ultra (it gets an upgraded version as well). While the standard Galaxy Watch 8 introduces subtle refinements, the Classic model revives the iconic physical rotating bezel that longtime fans have been waiting for.

Galaxy Watch 8: New design, familiar excellence
The Galaxy Watch 8 adopts a sleek, squircle-shaped frame, borrowing visual cues from the Ultra model. Itβs available in two sizes β 40mm and 44mmΒ β and features a sapphire crystal glass display with an aluminum frame. Both variants carry IP68 and 5ATM ratings for water and dust resistance, along with MIL-STD-810H certification for durability in harsh environments.
The 40mm model sports a 1.34-inch Super AMOLED display, while Samsung has equipped the 44mm variant with a 1.47-inch panel. The screens boast a brightness of up to 3000 nits and offer a 60Hz refresh rate. Under the hood is Samsung’s powerful 3nm Exynos W1000 processor, paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage.
The two size variants also differ in battery capacity. The 40mm Watch 8 packs a 325mAh unit, while the 44mm model gets a 435mAh battery. Both support 10W wireless charging, with improved battery life over the Galaxy Watch 7. The Galaxy Watch 8 series runs Wear OS 6 with One UI 8 Watch, unlocking features like Bedtime Guidance and a smarter Running Coach.
Galaxy Watch 8 Classic: The physical rotating bezel is back
After skipping the Classic variant last year, Samsung is bringing it back in full force. The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic features the beloved rotating bezel, combined with the squircle-inspired frame and circular display. It comes in a single 46mm size, crafted with premium materials β stainless steel frame and sapphire glass. Like the standard model, it’s rated IP68, 5ATM, and MIL-STD-810H for rugged use.
This model gives you a 1.34-inch Super AMOLED display with the same specs as the regular Watch 8. The processor also remains unchanged, but you get 2GB of RAM paired with 64GB of storage. The Classic model’s 445mAh battery also supports 10W charging. You also get the same software experience, thanks to One UI 8 Watch out of the box.
