Samsung appears to have begun development of its next-generation tablets and smartwatches. The Galaxy Tab S12 series, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 have surfaced in the IMEI database. This suggests the products are on track for a 2026 launch.

Samsung seems to be working on next-generation tablets and watches

As spotted by Smartprix, the GSMA IMEI database lists several upcoming Galaxy devices with their model numbers. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra carries the model number SM-X946B, while the Tab S12+ bears SM-X846B. However, there is no mention of a base model, suggesting Samsung may ditch it from the 2026 flagship tablet lineup.

Samsung has not kept a consistent model lineup for its premium tablets in recent years. For example, the 2023 Galaxy Tab S9 series includes three models: Tab S9, Tab S9+, and Tab S9 Ultra. However, in 2024, the Tab S10 series skipped the base tablet (we got only the Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra). Last year, the Galaxy Tab S11 series brought back the base model while ditching the Plus version. Of course, the lineup kept the S11 Ultra to attract users with its large display.

The omission of the base model in the Tab S12 series suggests Samsung aims to prioritize the Plus tablet once again. Based on the company’s usual screen sizes, the Tab S12+ should offer a 12.4-inch display, while the S12 Ultra might retain the 14.6-inch screen.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 9 shows up in the IMEI database with model number SM-L345U, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 carries SM-L716U. The listing did not mention the usual Classic model that features a physical rotating bezel. This suggests that the 2026 smartwatch lineup may focus only on the standard and high-end models.

That said, we cannot draw any conclusions just yet about Samsung skipping the base Tab S12 and the Galaxy Watch 9 Classic. As development progresses, these models may surface in the IMEI database in the coming months. Since they should launch in the second half of the year, the company still has time to finalize the models. We’ll let you know if any new developments surface on the web.
