Galaxy Tab A11 Receives First Major Update With One UI 8

Less than two months after its launch, the Galaxy Tab A11 is receiving its first major OS upgrade. The new budget tablet shipped with One UI 7 and is now picking up One UI 8. The Galaxy Tab A11+, meanwhile, debuted last week with One UI 8 out of the box.
Galaxy Tab A11 makes the One UI 8 jump
Samsung is nearly done wrapping up the rollout of its Android 16-based One UI 8 update to eligible Galaxy phones and tablets. The Galaxy Tab A11 is one of the very few remaining models, and it’s now making the jump too. The device is currently receiving the update in South Korea, with a global release expected soon. Both Wi-Fi and cellular versions are picking up One UI 8 with the build version BYK3.
As mentioned above, the Galaxy Tab A11 launched less than two months ago. Samsung shipped it with One UI 7 out of the box, so this is its first major OS upgrade. The affordable tablet is eligible for seven years of OS and security updates, so it has plenty of life left in it. Samsung also recently launched the Galaxy Tab A11+ with One UI 8 and the same software support.
One UI 8 brings a wide range of UI upgrades, smarter tools, and deeper customization options. You get improved widgets, gradient wallpapers, Now Bar and Now Brief upgrades, sticky notes in Samsung Notes, enhanced Samsung DeX, Samsung Internet improvements, and more. Quick Share also receives a cleaner full-screen layout with separate Send and Receive sections.
Additionally, My Files now shows file paths more clearly and improves shortcut access to downloaded files. Split-screen multitasking supports a more flexible 90:10 ratio, useful for quick interactions in one window while keeping the main app open. Secure Folder also becomes more robust using Android 16’s upgraded Private Space APIs.
Other key upgrades include easier bulk management of alarms, events, and reminders, improved support for Bluetooth LE Audio Auracast, more granular control over lock-screen notification visibility, and a refreshed Weather app with updated graphics. Alongside these features, the Galaxy Tab A11’s One UI 8 update also includes the October 2025 security patch.
