Galaxy S26 Ultra to Support 25W Wireless Charging, Qi2 Likely

While the Galaxy S26 Ultra‘s rumored 60W wired charging remains unconfirmed, Samsung may finally be stepping up its wireless game. A new report says the upcoming Ultra will support 25W wireless charging, while the base S26 and S26+ will offer 20W wireless charging. The company may have adopted the Qi2 standard for this upgrade, the first in six years.

Samsung steps up its wireless charging game with the Galaxy S26 series

When it comes to charging speeds, Samsung has been treading carefully to ensure maximum safety and battery health. For years, Galaxy flagships have supported 45W wired (25W for non-Ultra models) and 15W wireless charging. We may finally see some changes next year. Reports suggest the Galaxy S26 Ultra will charge at up to 60W via a USB Type-C cable and 25W wirelessly.

While it may seem like a modest jump, it should noticeably shorten charge times and improve convenience for users who rely on wireless charging daily. Samsung has reportedly enlarged the charging coil to allow greater current flow for faster charging. The company is also expected to adopt the Qi2 standard for optimal alignment and power efficiency during wireless charging.

Qi2-enabled devices come fitted with a magnetic ring that ensures perfect alignment when you place the phone on the charging pad. It also reduces power loss during wireless transmission and enables support for magnetic accessories such as wallets. Adding Qi2 magnets could block reverse wireless charging, but the trade-off might be worth it.

Samsung currently doesn’t offer Qi2 support on any Galaxy device. However, if the Galaxy S26 lineup gets Qi2 with faster wireless charging, its next-generation Galaxy Z foldables could also benefit from similar upgrades. In fact, industry watchers expect the Korean firm to bring wireless charging to mid-range products as well. It could only be a matter of time now.
