The tech world is eagerly counting down to Samsung’s next Unpacked event, set for July 9, where the spotlight will shine on the company’s seventh-generation foldables — the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. But even before these devices hit the shelves, new signs suggest that Samsung is already making strides on its 2026 flagship lineup. The Galaxy S26 Ultra and S26 Edge have just appeared in the GSMA IMEI database, indicating that development is well underway behind the scenes.

Samsung races ahead with Galaxy S26 development, IMEI listings reveal

The folks over at SammyPolice recently spotted the Galaxy S26 Ultra and S26 Edge in the GSMA IMEI database. The phones were listed with their full marketing names, as well as model numbers — SM-S948U (US) and SM-S948N (South Korea) for the Ultra; SM-S947U (US) for the Edge. These listings mean Samsung has started registering its next-gen flagships for launch.

Of course, Samsung won’t launch these devices before 2026, but it typically begins these registration processes around this time. One notable absence, however, is the Galaxy S26+, which hasn’t yet been spotted. This further fuels earlier rumors that Samsung might drop the Plus model entirely in 2026. The Edge variant could potentially take its place, slotting in between the base Galaxy S26 and the top-end Ultra.

That said, the base Galaxy S26 itself is missing. The company might still be in the process of registering its 2026 flagships in the GSMA IMEI database. The missing models might pop up in the coming days. The absence of the S26+ in early listings is certainly worth watching, though.

So far, Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything about the Galaxy S26 series. However, early speculation hints at refinements in camera hardware and battery life, as well as performance upgrades. The company may ship one or more models with its in-house 2nm Exynos 2600 processor, at least in some regions. As more leaks and certifications surface in the coming months, we’ll get a clearer picture of what Samsung has planned for early 2026.
