A lot of information about the Galaxy S26 series has already leaked. Still, a few questions remain unanswered. One of the more curious ones is whether the Galaxy S26 lineup will include native Qi2 magnets. For now, the answer appears to be no, but there is something else that represents a notable upgrade over its predecessor.

Galaxy S26 series is confirmed to support Qi 2.2.1 wireless charging

Folks over at 9to5Google discovered that three Samsung phones have appeared in the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) database. As a reminder, the WPC oversees the Qi wireless charging standard. First, take a look at the model numbers: “SM-K772,” “SM-K777,” and “SM-K778.” These appear to be placeholders for the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, respectively, and all three are listed with support for Qi 2.2.1.

This is the same Qi version the Pixel 10 series uses. However, another key detail is the absence of MPP support. MPP stands for Magnetic Power Profile, which essentially refers to native magnets. Instead, the Galaxy S26 series will rely on BPP (Base Power Profile). This effectively puts to rest any remaining hopes for native Qi2 magnets on the Galaxy S26 lineup. Maybe the Galaxy S27 will finally deliver.

Previous rumors have suggested that all three Galaxy S26 models will support faster wireless charging. The Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ are expected to support up to Qi2 20W wireless charging, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra could reach 25W. By comparison, the Galaxy S25 series capped Qi2 wireless charging at 15W. Still, native magnets would’ve been a far more meaningful upgrade.

That said, it likely won’t take long for Samsung to officially announce the Galaxy S26 series. The company’s expected to host a Galaxy Unpacked on February 25, with sales starting shortly after.
