Galaxy S26 series comes with anti-reflective display, but ditches titanium frame

The good news first: the Galaxy S26 Ultra offers an anti-reflective display that cuts glare and makes it easier to see outdoors. It comes alongside the Privacy Display feature, which blocks side-angle viewing to protect sensitive information. The bad news? There’s no titanium frame on the new phones, not even on the Galaxy S26 Ultra this year. Instead, Samsung has gone back to Armor Aluminum for all three models.

Titanium offers greater strength and a more premium feel, which helped make it popular on the S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra. However, Samsung seems to have dropped that trend with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. It’s a move some flagship buyers may notice, especially if they were expecting the same premium heft as previous Ultra models.

The lack of a titanium frame might disappoint people who prefer the tougher, more upscale feel of it. Titanium sounds premium, and it’s strong, but it comes with trade-offs. It’s harder to color and anodize consistently.

Unlike aluminum, which manufacturers can finish in a wide range of vibrant shades, titanium doesn’t allow for uniform coloring as easily. It often results in muted tones and fewer color options. That’s one reason titanium phones usually come in subtle grays, silvers, or natural finishes.

If Samsung wanted bold colors like Cobalt Violet or Sky Blue for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, aluminum makes that much easier. It allows for better color consistency, smoother finishes, and lower production complexity. Titanium is also harder to machine and more expensive to manufacture, which affects both cost and production yield. So, here’s the deal:
