Samsung is hard at work on One UI 8, its Android 16-based update for Galaxy devices. Expected to debut in July, the company is optimizing the software for various devices, ensuring the best performance from day one. A recent Geekbench listing shows ongoing optimizations as the Galaxy S25 running One UI 8 posted strong benchmark scores.
Galaxy S25 appears on Geekbench with One UI 8 onboard
In a shift from previous years, Samsung is targeting an earlier release for One UI 8, likely to make up for delays experienced with One UI 7. According to reports, One UI 8 will debut out of the box on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, which are expected to launch in the first half of July. Other flagship models, including the Galaxy S25 series, should receive the update in the following months.
Ahead of the official launch, Samsung is optimizing One UI 8. We recently spotted multiple Geekbench entries for the global Galaxy S25 (SM-S931B), all running Android 16 (One UI 8). As usual, the scores vary, but the phone performed incredibly well. The top score we spotted was 3,194 in single-core CPU tests and 10,068 in multi-core tests on Geekbench v6.4.
Of course, the listing tells us nothing more than confirming that Samsung is testing One UI 8 behind the scenes. As mentioned above, the company faced massive delays with the One UI 7 update. Expected by November of last year, the update didn’t arrive until this April. Samsung now aims to make up for these delays with an early release of One UI 8.
While the new version may debut in July, it may not roll out to older models until a couple of months later. Samsung is likely to run beta programs for various devices before a public release. We still expect the company to complete the One UI 8 rollout before the end of 2025, unless it hits an unforeseen roadblock. Meanwhile, the One UI 7 update is gradually reaching more devices worldwide.
