Samsung has just released One UI 8.5 Beta 7 for the Galaxy S25 series. At nearly 1GB in size, it’s a fairly substantial update for this stage of the beta program, hinting that Samsung may be putting the finishing touches on the software before the stable rollout. If you’re wondering what’s new, here’s the complete changelog.
The latest One UI 8.5 Beta release brings at least ten bug fixes
Samsung’s latest One UI 8.5 Beta update focuses mainly on bug fixes and usability improvements. Some beta users experienced situations where the phone incorrectly detected the screen state while making a call, which could unexpectedly switch a regular voice call to a video call. The update corrects the proximity sensor behavior, so calls should now function normally.
Samsung also fixed a color palette problem affecting Google apps inside the work or security folder. When users applied a system theme color, it sometimes didn’t carry over to certain Google Mobile Services (GMS) apps inside these protected folders. Another improvement targets dark mode in Gmail, affecting the visibility of the search box.
Beta 7 also resolves a crash issue in the Gallery app that occurred when launching a new project, which could interrupt editing tasks. Additionally, a bug that prevented users from exporting photos from private albums has been fixed, making it easier to manage images stored in secure folders.
Samsung DeX users will benefit from another fix. Previously, toast pop-up notifications sometimes failed to appear while connecting to DeX, especially if the device was generating heat during the process. The update restores those notifications so users receive proper system feedback when connecting.
The Weather widget has also been improved. When adding a new city and viewing temperatures in Fahrenheit, the temperature value should now appear properly. Additionally, Samsung addressed a Wi-Fi roaming issue related to networks that support MBSSID (Multiple BSSID).
The Samsung Messages app also receives a performance fix. Some users experienced stuttering or freezing when opening the unread message inbox for the first time. The update smooths out that behavior for faster access to messages. Last but not least, Samsung resolved an issue where notifications occasionally failed to appear in the notification panel under certain conditions.
The stable rollout could begin soon
Besides what was mentioned in the official changelog, One UI 8.5 Beta 7 could contain minor bug fixes and optimizations for enhanced system stability. Samsung may now follow up with the stable build a few weeks later, possibly before the end of this month. Or maybe it still plans Beta 8, we shall find out soon. Stay tuned for more.
