The Galaxy S25 Edge Is About to Get a Worthy Opponent

If my memory serves me well, the first credible set of rumors about the Galaxy S25 Edge started appearing in November of last year. However, it wasn’t expected to be released as the Edge; many thought it would debut as the Galaxy S25 Slim. A name is just a name, after all. That would have been a suitable choice, but let’s move on.
After that, a few weeks passed, and Samsung took the wraps off the Galaxy S25 series. If you were following the scene, you’d already know that Samsung had planned to debut it later. We waited, they showed it briefly, and we waited again—until May 13. That’s when Samsung officially announced the Galaxy S25 Edge for pre-orders. Now that it’s been on the market for over three and a half months, it’s time for it to face a worthy opponent.
Apple will take the wraps off iPhone 17 Air tomorrow
That will be Apple’s iPhone 17 Air. Just as Samsung has planned changes for the 2026 lineup, Apple is also dropping the Plus model. Sure, the official specifications won’t be out until tomorrow, but rumors give a fair idea of what’s coming. According to those reports, the iPhone 17 Air will be thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge, which is one area where Apple could knock the S25 Edge out.

But how will the iPhone 17 Air fare against the Galaxy S25 Edge (review) in other areas? To start, we didn’t like that the Galaxy S25 Edge came with only two cameras, and we wondered why the heck. Apple’s take might only have one camera, which is another area where Samsung will likely humble the competition.
Another point is the battery. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to house a smaller battery, around 3,036mAh. That’s again much lower compared to the Galaxy S25 Edge’s 3,900mAh. The bottom line is both of them are engineering marvels in their own way, and in some areas, the iPhone 17 Air will probably do better than the Galaxy S25 Edge—and vice versa.
We’ll wait for the official announcement and see how they fare against each other in a real-world test. To say the least, the Galaxy S25 Edge will finally have a worthy opponent soon.
