Samsung is gearing up to expand its flagship lineup with the Galaxy S25 Edge. Ahead of its rumored launch in mid-April, the device surfaced on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification website. This indicates its official launch in India, though there are strong rumors that Samsung will initially restrict the super-slim phone to select markets.

Galaxy S25 Edge gains the BIS certification on its way to launch

As usual, the BIS listing for the Galaxy S25 Edge does not reveal key specifications. In fact, it lacks the product name too, though the model number gives it away. The upcoming Samsung flagship bears the model number SM-S937. The Indian unit is basically the global dual-SIM version (SM-S937B/DS).

This isn’t the first regulatory approval Samsung has obtained for the Galaxy S25 Edge. The company has already received certifications in several other regions, with a few mentioning the US version too (SM-S937U). These certification listings hint at an imminent launch, with rumors suggesting an April 16 launch. Samsung has yet to confirm anything though.

Nonetheless, it may not be a global launch next month. Despite evidence showing Galaxy S25 Edge variants for several international markets, the company allegedly plans to launch the phone only in its home country of South Korea in April. The initial production volume of 40,000 units suggests Samsung will proceed conservatively. A global release may depend on how well the phone is received in Korea.

More details should be available in the coming weeks as the firm ramps up its preparations. The Galaxy S25 Edge is Samsung’s thinnest smartphone yet, measuring just 5.84mm. Unfortunately, the company sacrificed cameras and the battery to achieve a slim design. The phone lacks a zoom camera and features a 3,900mAh battery. It remains to be seen if Samsung finds enough buyers for it.
