Galaxy S25 Edge Misses One UI 8 Beta, But Stable Update Still on Track

Samsung didn’t include the Galaxy S25 Edge in its ongoing One UI 8 beta program. However, it may not delay the slim flagship’s stable One UI 8 update. The Korean company has begun firmware development for the Edge’s first major OS upgrade — like the rest of the lineup, it is eligible for seven generations of Android OS/ One UI upgrades. It’s unclear if Samsung plans to release beta updates for the phone later.
Galaxy S25 Edge’s One UI 8 (Android 16) update is in development
Samsung kicked off the One UI 8 (Android 16) beta shortly after the Edge hit shelves. The beta build is currently limited to the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. The company should launch beta programs for more devices later this month. While the chances of the Galaxy S25 Edge getting early access to One UI 8 remain low, the stable update should be available around the same time as the rest of the lineup.
As spotted by @Alfaturk16 on X, internal development of One UI 8 for the device has now officially begun. Considering the Galaxy S25 Edge only started shipping a few weeks ago, the timing aligns with Samsung’s usual rollout rhythm. And since the software experience across the S25 lineup is virtually identical, there’s little reason to expect major delays.
As such, once Samsung finalizes the stable One UI 8 build for the Galaxy S25 series, the S25 Edge should receive it alongside the rest, or very shortly afterward. The Korean firm is expected to begin rolling out the official One UI 8 update by August or September. It will introduce the new version at its next Unpacked event, likely on July 9 in New York City. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, which go official at this event, will ship with One UI 8 out of the box.
