If you live in the US, you might not be familiar with Samsung’s M series, but the lineup is very popular in India and other emerging markets. As promised, Samsung today unveiled its latest Galaxy M17 5G smartphone in the country, bringing some meaningful upgrades over its predecessor. It will be available for purchase through multiple channels, including Amazon and the Samsung website, starting on October 13.
Here’s the price, availability, and key specs of the Galaxy M17 5G
Samsung’s Galaxy M17 5G arrived as the successor to the Galaxy M16, which launched earlier this year. The phone comes in two color options: Moonlight Silver and Sapphire Black. It costs INR 12,499 for the 4GB/128GB variant, while the 6GB/128GB setup hits the market at INR 13,999. As for the 8GB/128 GB, the company set the price at INR 15,499.

The Galaxy M17 5G measures ‎7.5×77.9×164.4mm and weighs about 192 grams, which is slightly thinner and lighter than the Galaxy M16 5G (7.9mm, 191 grams). The phone features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution (1080×2340 pixels). Protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, the panel supports a 90Hz refresh rate and 1,100 nits HBM peak brightness. Thanks to the IP54 rating, it’s protected against dust and splashes.

Under the hood, Samsung’s Exynos 1330 chipset powers the phone, paired with a Mali-G68 MP2 GPU. The Galaxy M17 5G boasts a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor that supports OIS. The remaining two cameras include a 5MP ultrawide shooter and a 2MP macro unit. On the front, it sports a 13MP camera housed within a waterdrop notch at the top of the panel.

Moreover, the Galaxy M17 5G runs Android 15-based One UI 7 out of the box. You also get a bunch of AI features, such as Circle to Search with Google and Gemini Live. It will receive six major OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Other features include a 5,000 mAh battery, 25W fast charging support, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
