Galaxy Buds 3 FE Certification Reveals Major Battery Upgrade

Last month, Samsung unveiled its affordable pair of wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds Core, in a few regions. The company is now gearing up to launch another entry-level Bluetooth headset, but as a Fan Edition model. Dubbed Galaxy Buds 3 FE, the device recently appeared on the SGS Fimko certification platform, revealing the battery capacities of both the earbuds and their charging case.

Back in July 2024, Samsung refreshed its audio wearable lineup with the introduction of the Galaxy Buds 3 series. The lineup included the standard Galaxy Buds 3 and the premium Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. Now with Galaxy Buds 3 FE, Samsung appears to offer core features of the series at a lower price.

A few days ago, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US approved the device with the model number SM-R420. This suggests the launch of new earbuds is just around the corner. The device has now appeared on Finland’s SGS Fimko platform, alongside the charging cradle (model number EP-QR420).

As per the listing, the new eabuds will feature a 200 mAh battery while the charging case will pack a 900 mAh battery. The battery capacity of each earbud should be 100 mAh. If true, this will be a massive upgrade in the battery department — the original FE earbuds offered just 60mAh each earbud. More importantly, we will see a substantial increase of 421mAh in the charging case — the previous model’s case featured a 479mAh battery.

The upcoming Galaxy Buds 3 FE’s design is no longer a mystery, as we have already gotten our first look. The design language resembles the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, though the build appears to be plastic. They feature a glossy white finish with black vertical lines on the stems.

As for launch, the new affordable pair of wireless earbuds may go official in September or October 2025 with the upcoming Galaxy S25 FE. We will learn more details in the coming weeks.
