Galaxy AI Stays Free Beyond 2025, But Paid Features are Possible in Future

Since its introduction in early last year, Samsung has repeatedly said that Galaxy AI will stay free until the end of 2025. As the year winds down, many users are wondering what exactly happens next. The company has now offered a clearer but still slightly cautious answer.
Basic Galaxy AI will stay free, but Samsung may introduce some paid features
Earlier this year, Samsung clarified that none of its pre-installed basic Galaxy AI features will ever move behind a paywall. In other words, everything currently listed under the Galaxy AI menu in Settings will remain free to use. Bixby-powered tools will also always remain free.
However, the company hasn’t ruled out introducing new, paid AI features in the future, leaving the door open for premium add-ons on Galaxy devices. “Any Samsung enhanced AI features and all third-party AI features are subject to different terms and may be subject to fees,” Samsung recently said.
The Korean firm has not explained what these features include. It’s also unclear whether it will sell each feature individually or as a bundled subscription. But the naming suggests more powerful AI tools, possibly cloud-based, generative, or productivity-focused capabilities that go beyond the current basic set.
It’s worth noting that many AI-driven features on Galaxy devices rely on third-party services. For instance, Circle to Search is developed by Google. Samsung has also integrated Google Gemini into several of its own apps. If Google ever chooses to put these tools behind a paywall, Samsung will have little control over that decision.
The company is expected to debut new AI capabilities alongside the Galaxy S26 lineup in early 2026. Whether any of these will fall under a paid tier remains unclear. For now, it appears Samsung’s recent statement simply keeps the option open, leaving room for paid Galaxy AI features further down the road.
