Galaxy A55 Gets August 2025 Update Ahead of One UI 8 Beta

Earlier this month, Samsung announced plans to launch One UI 8 beta programs for the Galaxy A55 in select countries. While the beta may not arrive until September, the company has now released the August 2025 security update for the phone. The update is rolling out in South Korea, where it’s sold as the Galaxy Quantum 5. Users in other regions should get it shortly.

Galaxy A55 picks up Samsung’s August 2025 security update

The Galaxy A55 is the second mid-range Samsung smartphone to receive the August patch, following its successor, the Galaxy A56. The company has also rolled out this month’s security fixes to its 2025 and 2024 flagships, including the Galaxy S25 series, S24 series, Fold 7, and Fold 6. It addresses nearly 50 vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family, some of which are more severe security flaws than others.

As of this writing, the Galaxy A55/Quantum 5 is receiving the August SMR (Security Maintenance Release) in Korea. Users are getting the update with firmware build version BYH1. Samsung should soon release the new security patch for the device in global markets.

While the August 2025 update doesn’t add new features, it ensures better protection against vulnerabilities, keeping the Galaxy A55 running smoothly as it approaches its next major upgrade. As mentioned above, this phone is eligible for One UI 8 beta, which may arrive in September. The stable release is expected before the end of the year.

The Galaxy A55 isn’t the only mid-range phone to get One UI 8 beta. Samsung also plans beta releases for the Galaxy A54, A36, and A35. Interestingly, the Galaxy A56 isn’t eligible, likely because of its delayed launch in the US. The beta programs are expected to be launched in the US, the UK, South Korea, and India.
