Galaxy A34 Gets Vulkan and GPUWatch Support in One UI 7 Update

Even though the One UI 8 beta program is expanding, a few devices are still receiving the One UI 7 update. It’s not a huge number, all things considered, but it’s still a fair few. Speaking of which, the Galaxy A34 started getting the One UI 7 update a few days ago. Now, someone has shared an exciting tidbit about what the Android 15-based update brings to the device.

Reddit user Tsuruugi shared that the Galaxy A34 now supports GPUWatch and Vulkan with the One UI 7 update. The bigger news here, of course, is Vulkan support on Galaxy A34, which replaces the older OpenGL. Vulkan is more efficient than its predecessor, meaning games and apps can run more smoothly while using less power.

Now, about GPUWatch. It’s a tool from Samsung that lets you see how your phone’s graphics processor is performing in real time. It’s mainly designed for developers and gamers who want to keep an eye on things like frames per second (FPS), how hard the GPU and CPU are working, and more. Once activated, it shows up as an overlay on the screen while you’re using apps or playing games.

On top of that, you might already know how massive the One UI 7 update has been recently. You’ll notice updated icons, smoother animations, revamped widgets, and the ability to separate or merge notification and quick settings panels. It also features a new Now Bar that shows media controls, live scores, and more. There’s obviously a bunch of new features that will make your device look and feel even cooler.

And now, Samsung is already putting the finishing touches on the next One UI 8 update. One UI 7 officially landed in January, and we’re in for an upgrade this July. Samsung has confirmed that their new foldables will come running Android 16-based One UI 8 out of the box.
