Samsung is preparing to launch the One UI 8 beta based on Android 16, with testing expected to begin over the next few days. But if you’re hoping for a global rollout this time, history suggests you may be out of luck. The company may once again lock the beta program to select regions.

Samsung may not launch One UI 8 beta in global markets

Since the first One UI beta in 2018, Samsung has followed a consistent pattern, limiting access to a handful of countries: the United States, South Korea, Germany, India, Poland, the United Kingdom, and China. The latest One UI 7 beta followed this same rollout path, starting in a few markets and later expanding to the full list of seven. There’s no indication this will change with One UI 8.

Samsung has already created dedicated One UI 8 beta pages on its community sites for the US, Germany, the UK, India, and Poland. Pages for South Korea and China are likely to appear soon, reinforcing the idea that the beta will remain confined to these markets. Despite calls from users in other regions, Samsung appears focused on a smaller pool of testers.

While this allows for more controlled feedback and better quality assurance β€” a wider release might offer more diverse data, but it also increases complexity β€” it’s about time Samsung gave beta access to more Galaxy users worldwide. Many people want to try out big updates early, but the company doesn’t provide access.

Unless Samsung changes things in the coming weeks, users outside the aforementioned seven countries will have to wait for the stable One UI 8 release. The stable build is expected to debut in July with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, but the rollout for older models may not begin until August or September. Stay tuned for the official launch of the first One UI 8 beta.
