Samsung’s One UI 7 update introduced a new design philosophy, and One UI 8.5 further refines it. These rounded elements give the interface a softer, more approachable look while maintaining consistency across Samsung’s ecosystem, with some apps featuring squircle buttons.

Likewise, the Device Care page now sports a simplified, more visual layout. Instead of simply showing how much storage or memory is available, it now highlights the percentage of used space. These metrics are paired with larger, more prominent bars that make the current status easier to grasp at a glance. The result is less clutter and a more intuitive way of presenting data.

While One UI 8.5 doesn’t appear to be a radical redesign, subtle refinements like these suggest Samsung is aiming to make system management less technical, more approachable, and ultimately more user-friendly. The company is working toward a more cohesive and visually polished experience. The squircle or rounder buttons, unified layouts, and cleaner typography signal a shift towards a friendlier UI that still feels premium.
