August 2025 Update Lands on Samsung’s Galaxy A14 and A26

Samsung has rolled out its August 2025 security patch to two more value-focused mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A14 and Galaxy A26. If you’re carrying one of these handsets, the latest security update should be available for your phone in the coming days. The company has already updated a bunch of other models.
Galaxy A14 and A26 pick up Samsung’s August 2025 security update
This month’s security patch, aka SMR (Security Maintenance Release), for Galaxy devices addresses 47 critical and high-severity fixes from Google and Samsung. These include security flaws specifically affecting Samsung products. The Korean firm patched flaws across Samsung Account, Emergency SOS, Galaxy Watch sensor services, and more Galaxy components.
The Galaxy A14 is currently picking up the August 2025 update in Asia, where users are getting the build version A145FXXSADYH2. The rollout for the Galaxy A26 began in Europe, with Samsung pushing the build number A266BXXS4AYG9.
The company will soon release these updates worldwide. Users can go to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check for new updates. While there are no new features in tow, updating now keeps your phone safe from newly uncovered system-level and Samsung-specific vulnerabilities.
Launched in early 2023, the Galaxy A14 is done getting major OS upgrades. It debuted with Android 13/One UI 5 and received updates up to Android 15/One UI 7. As far as security patches are concerned, those are guaranteed for at least four years, meaning until sometime in early 2027.
The story is different for the Galaxy A26. It debuted earlier this year with One UI 7 onboard. More importantly, this phone is eligible for six major OS upgrades and six years of security patches. Samsung will update it to Android 21, with regular security patches until March 2031. One UI 8, which will be its first big OS update, should arrive later this year or in early 2026.
