August 2025 Google Play System Updates: What’s New

Google has recently outlined the contents of its August 2025 Play system updates. It brings improvements to Android core experience across phones, tablets, TVs, Wear OS, Auto, and other categories. The update may begin rolling out for several eligible Galaxy devices in the coming weeks.

Here’s the first and second batch of Google Play system updates for August 2025

Google continues to improve its core Android components, such as Google Play Store and Google Play Services, through monthly updates. While this update is not as big as a major OS release, it addresses critical bugs, improves security, refines existing features, and introduces new functionality. So far, the company has detailed notes for the August 2025 system updates in two batches: the first on August 4 and the second on August 11.

Speaking of the first batch, the Google Play Services version 25.30 has improved the onboarding and sign-in process for Automotive. The update now lets you add an optional security question for Remote Lock. Furthermore, it aims to make payments faster by enabling an autofill option with the Google shortcut on Gboard.

The company also brings the ability to access multi-family residential in Google Wallet. On top of that, you will see a more modern and expressive interface within the wallet. When Pix users in Brazil make tap transactions, they will receive tone and vibration notifications. The update has fixed a host of bugs related to utility services.

With Google Play Store version 47.4, you will now earn points when you play and rediscover games. The update allows you to see summary paragraphs and topic chips on app pages. Furthermore, you can review topic-level summaries on the all page.

Now coming to the second batch, Google Play services version 25.31 brings bug fixes for Android Auto and Wallet issues. In the system management section, the update improves device connectivity and privacy. For developers, it brings support for utilities and maps-related processes in their apps. Eligible users will find an invite to add a Pix account to Google Wallet.

As for Google Play Store version 47.5, the update adds a new featured format at the top of the apps tab. The company may push all these enhancements to Galaxy devices at any time. So, keep an eye out for the latest update via Settings > Security and Privacy > Updates > Google Play System Update.

Update (08/28/2025)

With the Play Store version 47.7, Google will show warning messages on watch face app pages if they consume a lot of battery. Meanwhile, Google Play Services version 25.33 lets you manage storage across Android in one place. For developers, the update brings new features for Maps-related processes in their apps.

As for Google Play Store version 47.6, it makes it easier to find recently installed pre-registered games. Furthermore, it brings the ability to find top trending movies and TV shows in your region. When on cellular data, you can now auto-install pre-registered games.

Meanwhile, the Google Play Services version 25.32 update makes it easier to manage your Google Account storage with low or full storage alerts. Wi-Fi Sync now allows sharing and syncing trusted networks across all your devices. Quick Share has added a new landing page with separate Send and Receive tabs. In Japan, Autofill users can now securely autofill card information.
