Samsung Display has reportedly scored a major win. Last month, a market research firm said it would exclusively supply OLED panels for the 2026 MacBook Pro. A new report from Korea backs this up, confirming Samsung Display as the sole screen supplier for Apple’s first OLED MacBook Pro.

Apple’s OLED MacBook Pro dream is coming true, thanks to Samsung

This move positions Samsung as a key player in one of Apple’s biggest MacBook upgrades in years. The current MacBook Pro lineup uses mini-LED panels, which offer solid brightness and contrast but still fall short of OLED in key areas. OLED delivers perfect blacks, richer colors, and better energy efficiency. It has already transformed Apple’s iPhone and Apple Watch lines, and now the technology may finally be coming to the Mac.

Samsung Apple

The exclusivity is surprising. Apple usually splits component orders among multiple suppliers to reduce risk and maintain leverage. In this case, Samsung’s manufacturing edge may have left little room for alternatives. It has invested heavily in next-generation Gen 8.6 OLED production lines, using larger glass substrates designed for laptops and monitors. These panels pair with oxide thin-film transistor technology that boosts efficiency, scales more easily, and lowers manufacturing costs.

The first OLED MacBook Pro is rumored to launch with Apple’s M6 processor, following an M5-based refresh expected in early 2026. Together, the new chip and display could bring noticeable gains in performance, battery life, and visual quality. That points to a likely late-2026 debut for the OLED MacBook Pro.

For Samsung, the Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro deal strengthens its lead as the world’s top OLED maker and could bring a meaningful revenue bump. It already supplies OLED panels for several Apple products, but securing the entire MacBook Pro order signals rare trust and technical alignment between the two rivals. It follows a partnership between the two, through which Samsung will make image sensors for upcoming iPhones. The Tom and Jerry of tech, as I prefer to call them.
