After Flip 7, Samsung May be Ready for Big Galaxy Z Flip 8 Leap

Samsung’s foldable lineup took a big step forward this year. Alongside the launch of its ambitious TriFold, the company also delivered meaningful upgrades to its regular Fold and Flip models. While the Galaxy Z Fold 7 grabbed most of the attention with its bigger leap, the Flip 7 also saw notable upgrades. A slimmer, more refined design, larger displays, and a bigger battery make it the most polished Flip yet. And if early leaks are anything to go by, Samsung isn’t done pushing the Flip forward just yet.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 could mark a major leap forward
Looking ahead to 2026, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is shaping up to be one of the biggest upgrades the series has seen in years. Rumors on X suggest Samsung is planning significant improvements in thickness, display technology, and performance, pushing the Flip closer to mainstream flagship standards. The phone is expected to get thinner without sacrificing battery capacity, and it may even increase it.
To recall, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a 4,300mAh battery in a 6.5mm/13.7mm profile. The Flip 6, on the other hand, measures 6.9mm/14.9mm in thickness and packs a 4,000mAh battery. Samsung has already delivered a bigger battery in a slimmer chassis, and the Flip 8 might continue that trend.
Display upgrades are also on the table. After the Flip 7’s expanded cover screen and more usable inner display, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to refine things even further. That could mean thinner bezels, improved crease reduction, and higher efficiency panels for better battery life. Samsung has been steadily evolving its foldable displays, and the Flip 8 could benefit from the same next-gen OLED and hinge optimizations expected across its foldable lineup.
Performance is another area set for improvement. While the Flip 7’s Exynos 2500 is pretty capable, it doesn’t quite match the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Elite powering the Fold 7. Samsung is now preparing to launch the Exynos 2600, shipping it with the Galaxy S26 series early next year. The new 2nm processor is shaping up to be a real competitor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It remains to be seen if this chip also makes it to the Flip 8 in mid-2026.
From novelty to no-compromise foldable
The Galaxy Z Flip started as a stylish experiment. With the Flip 7, it became genuinely practical. And if the rumors hold true, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could be the moment the Flip line fully sheds its compromises. Of course, it’s still too early, so we should be cautious with leaks. But Samsung seems ready to give the Galaxy Z Flip its biggest upgrade in years. Stay tuned for more.
